The end of December 2007 saw the Whatcom Land Trust's conservation properties total 109 parcels covering over 7,698 acres. Additionally, we have assisted in governmental acquisition of another 1300 acres for conservation purposes. Our conservation properties include: 14 miles of Nooksack River shoreline, 700 acres of ancient forest, and over 1,000 acres of Lake Whatcom watershed. Additionally, nine county parks have been created, and 4 future park sites acquired.
For a complete list of all properties, contact us.
Thanks to increasing awareness of the need to preserve our beautiful community, the Whatcom Land Trust has successfully conserved many natural heritage and wildlife habitat areas.
Below, some of our projects are described in more detail.
