Protection of a wooded ravine is the major intent of this easement, granted by former owners Vern and Carol Renius.  They purchased the property in the 1980s, and built a home on the northern portion of the parcel.   The southern three acres of the property is thickly wooded with second growth Douglas fir, and slopes steeply into an east-west running ravine.  It is an important corridor for wildlife moving between Pleasant Bay and Chuckanut Mountain.

Protection of the property preserves the natural scenic beauty and the plant and wildlife habitat.

Our Heritage

We are entrusted with an extraordinary natural heritage. Saltwater shorelines, forests, lakes, farms, mountains, and wildlife habitat are all part of a legacy that only we can preserve for future generations. The desire to share this heritage with our children and grandchildren unites all who treasure Whatcom County.
