Preserving the Nature of Whatcom County since 1984

Pritchett Jacobsen

Location:  Glacier
Size:  6.48 acres
Public Access:  No
Easement granted:  April 2007
Easement type:  Conservation
Grantees:  Whatcom Land Trust

The grantors have a home on two acres adjoining the 6.48 parcel on which they have granted the conservation easement.  The protected tract is located on the south bank of the North Fork Nooksack River, and stretches in a long, narrow band from the river’s floodplain southward, gaining some elevation.  The property borders national forest land on the east, and is covered with second growth Western Red cedar, Red alder, Black cottonwood, Grand fir and Sitka spruce.

Deer, bear, bobcat and other large mammals use the property as a migration corridor between National Forest properties.  Protection of the riparian area will help the river sustain native fish runs.

Our Heritage

We are entrusted with an extraordinary natural heritage. Saltwater shorelines, forests, lakes, farms, mountains, and wildlife habitat are all part of a legacy that only we can preserve for future generations. The desire to share this heritage with our children and grandchildren unites all who treasure Whatcom County.
