Whatcom County's newest saltwater park was made possible with the help of the department of Ecology. With a grant from the Ecology, Whatcom Land Trust purchased 48 acres of surplus waterfront property from BC Hydro and traded it to The Trillium Corporation for 54 acres of forested wetlands and 1,900 feet of saltwater beach. The new park should be open to the public in late summer 2008 and will feature a wetland walking trail and beach access to over 2 ½ miles of wild Georgia Strait shoreline.
