The property remains much as it was in 1970, when Holden and Phoebe Judson established a homestead there. Wildlife usage has declined, but eagles, pheasants and water birds still frequent the property. Much of the property is wetland, with the northern half rising gently. Cattle are grazed there, with predominant vegetation being pasture grasses, cattails, varied shrubs and trees. Red alder is the main tree species.

This property was originally part of the Judson homestead, and shares the view of Mt. Baker to the east, and glimpses of Orcas Island to the west. Underground springs create wetlands, and the soil is mostly peat. A small corral and stable, with feed room and hay storage area, are located at the north end of the property, which is currently being used for pasture and hay production.
Stremler

This property was part of the historic Judson Homestead. The Stremler residence, now restored and used as a bed-and-breakfast facility, was built in 1888. There are five historic outbuildings, as well. The farmstead area takes up two acres, and there is a two-acre wetland pond. There is also a 1700-foot stretch of riparian corridor along the Nooksack River, and the remainder of the property is open pasture. Cottonwood, red alder, and willow along the river provide habitat for waterfowl and shade for fish.
We are entrusted with an extraordinary natural heritage. Saltwater shorelines, forests, lakes, farms, mountains, and wildlife habitat are all part of a legacy that only we can preserve for future generations.
